When an accident takes place on the job, the outcomes can range in severity. Some incidents may cause damage to materials or property without harming people, and other events could cause employees to suffer considerable injuries. Industrial accidents have a high potential for resulting in injuries, and unfortunately, some workers may never be the same after such an incident.
North Carolina workers may be interested in such an event that recently took place in another state. Reports indicated that an individual working for UPS suffered a severe injury in an on-the-job accident. Apparently, the man was working at a customer center when his arm became caught in a conveyor belt. The incident resulted in the man’s arm being severed from his body.
The man was taken from the scene and transported to an area hospital, and fire and rescue personnel worked to extract the man’s arm from the conveyor belt. It was hoped that medical professionals may have the chance to reattach the limb to the man’s body. A spokesman for UPS stated that safety is a top priority for workers and that they have policies and procedures in place for safely operating equipment.
Catastrophic injuries that result from industrial accidents can substantially change lives. North Carolina workers who lose limbs, suffer head trauma or back injuries may lose the ability to return to the jobs they once had or even work at all. The outcomes can cause considerable financial hardship, and negatively affected parties may wish to look into information on workers’ compensation to determine how such benefits could potentially help them.
