When working on construction sites, it is up to employers to ensure that appropriate safety measures are in place. If there is a lapse in standards, workers could be at risk of falling, being injured by machinery or suffering numerous other potentially injury-causing scenarios. The family of a North Carolina worker may be hoping to gain more information on workers’ comp benefits after a recent accident. Reports stated that a 49-year-old man was working as part of a construction crew at a residence when the man fell from the roof. It was unclear what may have caused the incident, but at the time of the report, authorities believed it to be an accident.
It was not reported whether there were proper safety precautions taken to help prevent such falls. Nonetheless, the man suffered fatal injuries as a result of the incident and was pronounced dead at the site. The tragedy was under investigation at the time of the report.
When an construction accident takes place, there may be many questions that need answering. Investigations conducted by police and labor departments often help uncover those answers. While that information may assist with emotional closure, the family of this North Carolina victim may continue to face financial struggles. As a result, they may wish to determine whether they could potentially qualify for workers’ compensation benefits on behalf of their deceased loved one.
