Working with any type of machinery can pose risks to workers. Whether the machine malfunctions, safety protocols were not in place or another unexpected mishap takes place, a person could suffer severe injuries. After being injured on the job, medical attention may be necessary, especially if the injuries caused a worker substantial harm.
North Carolina residents may be interested in an industrial accident that recently took place in another state. Reports indicated that a woman was working with an undisclosed type of machine when her hand and arm became stuck in the machine. It was unclear what type of duties she was attempting to carry out at the time of the incident. Other employees immediately cut the power to the machine after the event occurred.
Security called emergency services, and firefighters arrived at the scene to help. A tourniquet was applied to help stop the extensive bleeding. It took a little over 15 minutes to free the woman from the machine, and afterward, she was transported to an area hospital for treatment. It was noted that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was conducting an investigation into the incident.
After getting injured on the job due to a machine-related accident, workers can experience physical and financial pains in the aftermath. In order to help with the resulting financial burdens of a work-related accident, North Carolina workers who have been similarly injured may wish to look into their workers’ compensation options. These benefits can help qualifying individuals with medical bills, lost wages and other applicable financial issues.
