Facing any type of financial setback can be difficult for any North Carolina resident to handle. Fortunately, for individuals who suffer a work-related injury, workers’ compensation can often help provide some forms of financial assistance. However, injured parties must apply for these benefits, and the process is not always as easy as one might hope.
Three workers in another state will undoubtedly be looking into more information on workers’ compensation after recently being injured on the job. Reports stated that the individuals worked for a local transit authority and were performing duties near an underground power station. During that time, an arc of electricity blasted from an electrical panel causing an explosion that resulted in the three workers being injured.
It was specifically noted that two of the workers suffered serious burns and were considered to be in critical condition. The extent of the third worker’s injuries was not disclosed, but that person was considered to be in good condition. It was not clear whether any other injuries besides burns were suffered. The incident was under investigation at the time of the report to determine what may have caused the explosion.
North Carolina workers likely know that a work-related injury of any type can be difficult to manage. The workers’ compensation process can also prove difficult to sort through. If individuals do suffer injuries on the job and feel that workers’ comp could be applicable, they may wish to consult with knowledgeable attorneys about the application process, how to handle denials and other issues that may impact each individual case.
